Lane Kiffin has been on the warpath since he took off on his jet from Oxford to join LSU as their head coach a few weeks ago to bring the Tigers back to national relevance and the College Football Playoff in 2026.

But as he looks towards building his own program with the Tigers next year, there are stars on the current LSU team who are making choices for their own future.

One of those big names is safety AJ Haulcy, who will be opting out of the Texas Bowl in two days against the Houston Cougars to declare for the upcoming NFL Draft next April.

Haulcy, who actually transferred from the Cougars last season after playing two years in Houston to join LSU, has had an incredible four years in college ball. As a freshman at New Mexico, he had two interceptions to go along with 86 total tackles.

During his time at Houston, he improved on what made him a force in New Mexico, totaling over 160 tackles and five interceptions.

After jumping in the transfer portal and landing in Baton Rouge in 2025, Haulcy showcased why he could be a top pick in the upcoming draft. He had 89 tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble throughout the year, making him a 1st Team All-American at his position.

A Houston native, he will watch from the sidelines as the two programs he’s shaped in the past three years will go head-to-head on Dec. 27.
