Detroit Lions staff, players, and fans aren’t happy with the NFL after last week’s Los Angeles Rams game, when a touchdown against them that appeared clearly down before the goal line was upheld, resulting in a loss that put their postseason hopes on the brink.

This week, another NFL decision left one of the team’s star players unhappy.

While the Lions take pride in playing on Thanksgiving every year, as it has become one of the best traditions in sports alongside the Cowboys hosting teams on the holiday, right tackle Penei Sewell is OK with only playing on a single major holiday per year.

“I’m going to be brutally honest, I’m not happy,” Sewell said to local Detroit media, MLive. “We already have Thanksgiving. We already play on Thanksgiving, and the fact that we have to play on Christmas [and] away is something I wouldn’t want to do. So yeah, not fun, but it is what it is.”

The Lions’ postseason fate could be decided in the next five days, as they play the Pittsburgh Steelers today at home before traveling to divisional rival Minnesota for Christmas.

If things break their way, the Lions could be in position to make the postseason or even win the NFC North come the final week of the season against the Chicago Bears on the road.

Thursday’s game against the Vikings will be the third time in history the Lions have played on Christmas, with the last appearance coming in 1999, when they fell to the Denver Broncos.
