At long last, the world has found out that Chris Evans will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The teaser trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday” is circulating in theaters ahead of “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” and the reported minute-long teaser brings forth many questions.
Evans’ return was something that fans speculated much about, considering the inclusion of many original MCU actors who are set to make their return. Even the older FOX-led X-Men actors have been confirmed in what could be the biggest multiverse film in the superhero genre.
With Evans’ return confirmed in the teaser trailer, the return of the original Captain America comes with a major twist: Steve Rogers has a child.
Per multiple reports, the teaser trailer showcases Rogers riding a motorcycle with a helmet that is in the design of his Captain America costume. He even pulls the costume out at one point to admire it. Rogers then arrives at the grand house that was shown at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.”
Rogers is holding the child when the teaser displays the famous text that has appeared in many MCU movies when a hero is set to return.
“Steve Rogers will return for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,” the caption reads. Following the bombshell reveal that Evans is back and has a child, a countdown clock appears that ends when the new MCU film arrives in theaters.
The same countdown clock was also shared by the Russo Brothers.
Obviously, the Marvel and Disney marketing team does a great job. This is just a huge tease for the film’s release on Dec. 16, 2026. The MCU also broke the internet during the now-viral casting reveal, which was a six-hour-long YouTube video, confirming all of the actors who will be in “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Now, with the return of Evans, Steve Rogers having a child, and Robert Downey Jr. also coming back as the infamous Doctor Doom, there is a lot to unpack.
The end of “Avengers: Endgame” showed a much older Steve Rogers, who sits down with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and promotes him from Falcon to the new Captain America. Rogers then uses the time-traveling technology to return to the 1950s to live a normal life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).
It appears that Rogers and Carter have a child, and that child could play a major part in what happens to Captain America between the time he returns to the past and when Doctor Doom arrives.
Who is this baby? Does this baby have more to do with the grand MCU and the arrival of Doom? Why is Steve Rogers back?
There are a multitude of questions that are sure to be answered in the coming weeks and months. There are reports that the Rogers teaser is one of a planned few that will focus on certain characters. While Marvel is not going to reveal to everyone what the major plan is just yet, fans can start piecing together what they think this movie will be out.
One thing is for sure: Evans’ return signals a full-circle moment for Marvel.
