The Chicago Bears and quarterback Caleb Williams are set for a huge matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night in Week 16.
Heading into this week’s game, the Bears have a huge opportunity in front of them. A win over the Packers would not only get revenge for the loss two weeks ago, but would also give them a stranglehold grip on the NFC North division race.
Last week, Williams and Chicago put a hurting on the Cleveland Browns. When all was said and done in that game, the Bears ended up winning by a final score of 31-3.
Steelers Could Trade for Interesting Aaron Rodgers Replacement
Williams put together a strong performance against a good Browns defense. He completed 17 of his 28 pass attempts for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. That performance gives him great momentum heading into the Green Bay game.
Following his performance and leading up to facing the Packers, Williams spoke out with a strong warning to the rest of the NFL.
“If I play like how I played last game or play better, we have a real shot to do whatever we want in this league,” Williams said.
On the season, the 24-year-old quarterback has thrown for 3,150 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while completing 58 percent of his passes. His completion percentage clearly needs to improve, but his numbers as a whole have been solid. If he can take his game to the next level, Chicago is going to be even more dangerous.
At this point in the season, the Bears hold a 10-4 record. Coming through with a statement win over Green Bay would move Chicago to 11-4 with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.
Browns Insider Sounds Alarm on Shedeur Sanders’ Future
Will the Bears actually be a serious Super Bowl contender come playoff time? That remains to be seen and will rely quite heavily on how Williams performs. He’s on the right track and playing like he did against Cleveland would make them a tough out.
It will be very interesting to see if Williams can back up his game against the Browns with another strong outing against the Packers. Green Bay has been difficult for the Bears to beat in recent years, but this is the kind of win that could begin a special run.
